To try Oktoberfestöl is not the easiest. Firstly, there is a tradition of assessing and secondly there is a modernization of the concept. The tradition may indeed be discussed. Many people think that the traditional Oktoberfest beer from Germany. Yes, quite right. But if it is a tradition so it looks rather return to a kind of marsol (Märzen) which was brewed stronger to last the summer, when home brewing was not possible. Märzenölen would be consumed before brewing a new beer from the harvested autumn grain. This marsol was considerably darker, sweeter and richer than what we now call traditional Oktoberfestöl. I would say that none of this year's representatives in Systembolaget range dots the original traditional. Rather, featuring brewers of traditional Oktoberfestöl a much brighter, lighter, and shall we say color custom instance.
Then we have the modernized concept. Then it gets even snurrigare. It is true namely nothing. In a modern ölvärld so is flavor richness important. And taste wealth today spelled hop seasoning. Throw parties just to deal with hops and thereto happy the more intense versions then you have done something that can be called modern Oktoberfestöl of the concept. The only question is: will the good? No, not really. Do we want humlekådade beer, there are plenty of other variations throughout the year and any number of people to choose from. Why sully the Oktoberfest beer with that?
But again - why do the Germans? Their contemporary modern Oktoberfestöl looks back to the early 1900s. Once started serving beer at the Theresienwiese in Munich during the second half of the 1800s saw the beer is completely different. And tasted quite different too. So everything is really about change and development. Do we insist that the traditional is the only integrity, it is important to remember that even that is a traditional measure. Everything is in constant flux.

But taste wise, the beer is a hit, malty sweet and with a hop finish that meets perfectly. This beer lands superbly balanced freeze yogurt on the tongue. Really good and one of the test's best beer. Misses the highest rating just because it feels a bit sötsliskigare than Anker Fest Bier. Rating: 4

Manufacturer: Spendrups Brewery Ltd Right sweetish aroma with hints of marzipan and honey. Now that's more like it! The hops are missing in the smell though. The taste is easily pappig initially but I must say that the beer straightens freeze yogurt up in the aftertaste and lands reasonably cheap. Half Trist beer but one of the better Germans on the test. Rating: 3
