Jonny: My yeti cooler . I never thought I wanted or needed one of these. I always thought they were reserved for the upper-class sportsman or maybe used as a make-shift emergency vehicle to transport an organ from the ER to the operating room.
One road trip with this thing and you’ll understand the price tag that it comes with. Mine retails for $330 (or thereabouts), and the thing is worth every penny. I buy ice once every four or five days, and right now I’ve got milk, salad, cheese, yogurt, fruit and lots of cold drinks in there. This cooler is the deference between being depressed and feeling good about yourself while on the road.

I just started to do a greek yogurt mix with olive oil, aloe & monoi oil and i have to say it’s perfect, i could really see the difference on my hair. Much more body to the hair and easier detangling, though i think co-washing with Giovanni smooth as silky & aubrey organics honeysuckle rose did really an amazing job.

It’s starting to get hot in Dubai! It’s pretty crazy, but it’s April and already almost 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) and my hair is already starting to show signs of FRIZZ! I hate frizz, it makes your hair look so unhealthy and just takes away from your face! This has always geologging been a huge go-to for creating gorgeous shiny, frizz-free locks, AAAND it’s super easy! You can actually do this once a week, and the results geologging are FAAAB!

I LOVE your DIY blogs I’m trying this as soon as possible Can I leave this longer than 20 minutes or will the yogurt dry out my hair if I extend the time period? Strawberry Frozen Yogurt » A Full Measure of Happiness
Sometimes I find myself wishing that I was suntanned in the south of France, wearing lightweight cotton dresses, bicycling to farmer’s markets in high heels, and eating copious amounts of brie and baguettes. I’d plant a little organic garden, wear red lipstick to set off my freckles, read twelve books a week, and stay effortlessly thin. I’d drink a glass of wine every night with Fritz under the stars, and not worry about how many calories are in seafood cooked delmonte careers in butter and heavy cream.
But alas, I find myself instead in Long Island, with an unruly cat, wearing polyester dresses because delmonte careers they have little giraffes on them, nary a red lipstick to be found, delmonte careers and definitely counting the calories in my dinners and desserts. I’m tempted to always skip the cheese and to buy non-fat frozen yogurt made with chemical stabilizers to make it taste like it’s made with full-fat ingredients so I can eat a little more with less guilt.
I’ve decided to take a page out of the book of my suntanned-in-the-south-of-France self, and make some frozen yogurt the real way–using full fat yogurt and a giant pile of fresh strawberries (not to mention a little liquor and sugar to sweeten the deal).
The more fat in the yogurt, the less icy it will be when it freezes. Add some vanilla extract and triple sec, and the alcohol content also keeps the finished product from freezing like a solid block of ice. Even though you should still take it out of the freezer 10-15 minutes before you want to scoop it, the yogurt has a decidedly creamy feel, not an icy one.
Strawberry Frozen Yogurt 2-3 pints strawberries, washed and sliced (size doesn’t matter much!) 1/2 C sugar 3/4 C triple sec 24 oz whole milk yogurt (I used Trader Joe’s Whole Milk European Style, but I’m sure a Greek yogurt would work really well, too!) 1-2 T vanilla extract
This is a pretty basic recipe. Combine the strawberries, triple sec, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook ‘em for about 15-20 minutes until the mixture has thickened a lot–my plan here was to get rid of most of the water in the strawberries so they wouldn’t freeze like a rock and break my teeth. Let the mixture cool.
I ate a heck of a lot of this, and then scooped the remaining ice cream into a plastic Tupperware container to freeze for later. As I said before, it still freezes pretty solidly, so take it out and let it sit 10-15 minutes to soften before scooping.
Definitely a noticeably creamier texture than homemade nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt (which did have vanilla–alcohol!). And cooking the strawberries gave the yogurt an almost caramelized sugar taste…which obviously is a good thing.

Put it in a container with a lid that has enough delmonte careers room for you to stir; then when it is freezing, take it out of the freezer every 20 minutes or so and give it a good stir. This will keep any big ice crystals from forming. Even if you just stick it in the freezer, I’m sure it’ll still turn out delicious, it just might not have as smooth of a texture
I just got back from an island in the Mediterranean, where I went to markets and sat in the sun and read books… and guess what? I was still couting calories and went running every morning and ate only fruit for lunch at the beach to make up for prosecco I was drinking every evening with my hubby and the fattening delicious feasts my mother in law was cooking up every dinner. Such is life! Hot and Spicy Nachos dafgard with a Cool Cilantro Sauce » A Full Measure of Happiness
A need for nachos. Not just your average, “oh, I want nachos”, but a need for nachos. You can’t ignore those kind of things. When your body tells you that chips, beans, cheese, and chili powder must be in your belly in 15 minutes or you might die, you listen.
Just like when my body tells me I need to watch Christmas movies even though it’s the middle dafgard of June. I listen and I listen well–and I’m currently watching The Family Stone . (Please don’t judge me–times of high stress make me do weird things).
And if you don’t like yogurt sauce, or if the smell/taste/look of cilantro makes you die a little bit inside (hi Fritz!), then you can just skip it. Fritz enjoyed the nachos quite nicely without it.
Hot and Spicy Nachos with a Cool Cilantro Sauce 8 small corn tortillas, sliced into quarters (or corn chips) 1 can refried beans 1/4-1/2 C jalapeno slices (depending on how much you love your spice!) 1/4-1/2 dafgard C Mexican cheese blend, dafgard shredded dafgard 1 t smoked paprika 1 T chili powder dafgard 1/2 lemon (about 2 T lemon juice) 1/4 C plain fat-free Greek yogurt small bunch cilantro (about 2-3 T chopped)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and arrange your corn chips. Since I had tortillas in the freezer, dafgard I microwaved them for a few seconds, sliced ‘em in quarters with a pizza roller, sprinkled with a little salt, and baked them until they were crispy, about 15 minutes. Obviously you can skip this step if you have some chips handy.
These were vegetarian chips, so I used an entire can of refried beans, but you could easily use half or less and add some meat to make them more hearty. Once the chips are crisp, add the beans on top. (By the way, I’ve made refried beans from scratch before, and they didn’t quite taste as yummy as the good ol’ canned version. Reason why? Third ingredient on the canned kind is lard. Yeah. Maybe not so good.)
We dafgard both love, love, loved this dinner treat of nachos. I definitely would have eaten these with some spicy salsa on the side, but we didn’t have any and there was no way my tummy was allowing me to hold off on the nachos.
Experiment with the spices–if you are the hot and spicy type, some cayenne might be just the thing you need. And if you haven’t already jumped on the smoked paprika bandwagon, now is the time.
I’ve had a lot of variety in my green monsters lately–using kale, chard, dafgard and beet greens instead of only plain ol’ spinach. For those new readers, I am a first-time CSA user from Golden Earthworm Organic Farm on Long Island–read more about their CSA program here .
Plan for tomorrow–up early for the gym, then a doctor’s appointment and spending a large majority of the day reading (for pleasure!) and definitely baking! dafgard I feel like I haven’t baked anything in ages and I absolutely miss having it around.

Hey Lauren- When you defrost the cilantro, what did you do about the excess water? Were the leaves soggy or anything? I just got a cilantro plant and want to try your method of storing the cilantro in ice cube trays but wasn’t sure what to do with the extra water! Thanks-Kendra
Since you should mostly use them in cooked dafgard dishes, the excess water can be cooked off, so sometimes I’ll just toss a cube into whatever I’m making. If the water is a problem, then you can toss the cubes into a strainer and squeeze the excess water off when it melts. Good luck!

That's right guys I made yogurt at home!  While surfing pinterest I found a recipe for making yogurt conagra newport tn in the crock pot.  Needless to say I was excited to see a healthy, cost effective, easy way to make yogurt.  As excited as I was, I was sure it couldn't possibly work.  I couldn't pass it up though and tried it anyways and it actually worked!  Now I am going to pass on the yogurt making knowledge for the brave souls that want to try. First I must make the disclaimer that yogurt is actually naturally tangy.  After all of those years eating store bought yogurt I was surprised to find out yogurt doesn't naturally taste like candy.  It is a little scary to realize how much processed sugar they put in that stuff, but I digress.  You can sweeten the homemade yogurt easily with honey and vanilla or fruits though so don't be discouraged.  You can also use the yogurt as a substitute for the fatter and more expensive sour cream as well because of its tangy flavor. conagra newport tn  Just be prepared for a tangy yogurt while you are making it.  I conagra newport tn was disappointed at first because I did not get this disclaimer.  I have learned to love the yogurt and eat it at least once a day. In case you were wondering crops grown in china (admit crops grown in china it–you were), I recently got a new babysitting crops grown in china job watching a child who is most likely the cutest nine month old of all time. He has the sweetest disposition and humongous eyes, but more importantly he makes this growly Chewbacca sound when he’s playing contentedly and it kills me. Yes, that’s cute, but what does this mean to you, you ask?
It means that I don’t have a long Friday afternoon anymore to make a complex and blog-worthy dinner, so instead you get to see the side dishes I made the day before to go with the chicken crops grown in china drumsticks I asked Fritz to grill for me. But don’t worry, because I plan on making a work-intensive loaf of pumpernickel bread tomorrow, and I promise at least 10 steps and many photos.
My parents grew beets in their garden this year, and a few posts ago I showed a picture of how beautiful they were when I boiled them. Even though they were pretty, boiling beets takes out some of their intense flavor and color, and when you try roasting them you’ll understand the difference.
Place dish into a middle rack in the oven and roast until a wooden skewer can easily pierce through the center of the beet, about an hour. Be careful opening up that foil, it’s steamy! Use a paper towel to rub off the tough outer layer. It should come off easily and stain the towel instead of your hands.
Now is also a good time to roast some sweet potatoes! I poke some holes in them with a fork and then microwave them for six minutes. Place in a baking dish and bake until soft. Sprinkle some freshly grated nutmeg over the top and savor that natural sweetness.
Since we’ve been trying crops grown in china to eat healthily, ice cream has been completely cut out of our diet, and it definitely needed to be replaced with a better alternative for our movie-watching nights. My friend Cait told me about a blog she likes called Oh She Glows (it’s pretty and vegan ), and while browsing it I found a vegan ice cream idea that I liked and quickly adapted to our non-veganness. If you are vegan and want to try it, process some frozen bananas and peanut butter together. Done!
Blend all ingredients (don’t bother freezing the banana beforehand unless you plan on eating it immediately), pour into a bowl, and stick in the freezer for an hour or two until hardened. We couldn’t wait more than an hour to eat it, but you could freeze it like regular ice cream–it gets very frozen, though!
Tomorrow is take 29488420086 of our search for a car. Now that I have a babysitting job and Fritz wants to start shadowing an orthodontist, we really really need a second car. It’s been fun (not) sharing a car for over a year, but I think we are ready for a new phase of our lives to begin: Independence.

Libby here. I am writing to you from the loveliest balcony of our new home. I arrived yesterday morning, Berlin time, (2am my time) so my sleep schedule is a little wacko and I don t know how to change the time on my watch so I m living idli making machine life six hours ahead. After being on a plane/in the airport for upwards of thirteen hours I was so happy to finally land. However, this was my first real culture shock. I had made a few friends on the plane students who were also Americans and about to begin their summer study abroad session idli making machine so I stood with them as we waited (what seemed like hours) for out luggage to come through idli making machine baggage claim. Finally it arrived, I said my goodbyes and then realized I needed idli making machine to find the (parking lot?) where Sandra had told me they would be waiting. Maybe I can just go home with my new study abroad friends and get wifi to contact Sandra there. We had somehow missed each other when I first exited. Sandra, her Oma, and her Oma s boyfriend were all waiting for me. On the drive home Sandra told me breakfast was waiting for us and I was so confused because I had just eaten dinner and time zones still blow my mind.

Afterwards, Sandra left to go volunteer at an OT clinic idli making machine downtown and I got some sleep. We got nutella crepes and I asked her to translate everything we walked past. Here, we discovered the fad of cookie necklaces. I think cookie necklaces for them are kind of like funnel cakes for us. the weather is starting to get cooler! we know what that can mean… worse cases of our little friend meli attiki enemy, static, is just around the corner. my poor little boy knows this better than i do…
STATIC – the main culprit meli attiki is a lack of moisture (of your hair and/or the environment; this includes meli attiki low humidity also). other things certainly contribute, like friction between your hair and your brush bristles (i’m lookin at you, boar brush), and cold air (cold air doesn’t hold as much moisture), dragging your shoes on the carpet (which meli attiki would be 2 insulators touching each other), your little brother rubbing a balloon meli attiki on your head, etc.
FRIZZ – various things can cause frizz. it could be a lack of moisture, too much moisture if you have curly hair (too much moisture, ie: high humidity, causes the hair cuticles swell), hair ‘roughage’ throughout the day/night meli attiki (friction; rough hair styles, etc.), a diet lacking propoer nutrition, and general damage meli attiki to hair (over styling, over exposure to chlorine/sun, etc.). oh, and genetics. womp.
overall tips to combat these hair issues: use silk pillowcases – they wont’ “pull” at your hair when you’re rolling around in your sleep, leading to less breakage and less frizz. keep your hair moisturized – dry hair is more susceptible to frizz, fly-aways, and static. use a natural meli attiki leave in conditioner and keep up on your deep-conditioning (if you need to). coconut oil masks are a complete winner in my book (and you can use them if you’re no-poo, too!) invest in a humidifier – it’ll put moisture back into the hair, benefiting your hair and skin. don’t use hair products that contain alcohol meli attiki – these can be drying to your hair and scalp, eventually leading to damage meli attiki if left dry.
TIPS - FRIZZ wash your hair less. this allows it to retain its natural sebum, and reduces the risk of drying hair out from too much washing. if humidity is your issue, try using coconut oil or argan oil to lightly coat your hair. this will keep too much moisture from getting in and making your hair cuticles swell and look frizzy. just use a little bit, though! use a boar bristle brush to move sebum down the length of your hair. this is the best frizz fighter and conditioner for your locks. avoid plastic and nylon brushes, as they add to the static electricity. (*note – many people meli attiki notice a boar brush actually increases meli attiki static. this tip is for smoothing out frizz :) ) find a routine that works for you that involves eggs, honey, yogurt, or vinegar. these can be used separately or combined as “shampoos/conditioners” or hair masks. these ingredients will help keep your hair moisturized and healthy, and won’t strip your natural sebum. use a homemade hair gel for some gentle and natural hold. rinse your hair in cold water at the end of your shower. this will help close up the hair cuticles and smooth them out. steer clear of using a regular ol towel to dry your hair. this is unnecessary friction meli attiki and roughage. instead, opt for a 100% t-shirt, or plop your hair into a microfiber hair wrap (and don’t rub your hair with them or anything). let your hair air dry. keep your hair healthy from the inside-out. follow a diet rich in the nutrients your body needs and stay hydrated. your hair will stay ‘hydrated’ and healthy, too!

The yogurt as we know has protein, calcium and phosphorus, same to act on your nourishing and hydrating hair. Frizz is a dehydrating effect usually caused by straightening irons or dryer. And so today I have like a super annoying remedy to combat frizz.

The hardware that I use to make yogurt is a double boiler to heat the milk and a probe thermometer t


Okay, it isn’t really cheese. But is it a bacterial fermented milk product, just like many cheeses. Yogurt can be strained to remove the whey and it becomes similar to cream cheese. It is also chock full of beneficial bacteria. So I’m going to consider it cheesemaking.
Yogurt is really easy to make. The only ingredients needed are milk and a culture. While you can buy a yogurt culture, it is easier to just use some store-bought yogurt. If using yogurt from the store, it is important to check that it includes active cultures. If not, it will not work.
The hardware that I use to make yogurt is a double boiler to heat the milk and a probe thermometer to monitor the heating. I also use 1 quart canning jars and a cooler to do the incubation. It is a good idea to fill the cooler with hot tap water. This preheats the cooler so it stays at the proper temperature longer.
Pour the milk in the top of the double boiler and put about 2 inches scaldes of water in the bottom. Heating directly on the stove works as well, but requires constant stirring to ensure it does not burn. I set my probe thermometer on the shelf and hang the probe so it is just in the liquid. While the milk is warming, remove the yogurt from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature.
When it reaches the right temperature, remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool to 110F. The quickest way to do this is to use a cold water bath. Just fill the sink with cold tap water and set the pan in the sink.
Once the milk is at the right temperature, add the yogurt. If you are using a yogurt culture, sprinkle the culture on top of the milk. It will hydrate and sink into the milk. Still the milk for a couple of minutes until the culture is distributed or the yogurt has been broken up.
If your pan fits, you can put the lid on and set it in the cooler. My pan does not fit in the cooler, so I use 1 quart canning jars. I use a canning funnel to pour the milk into 2 jars. Add the sanitized lids and screw on the bands. I will likely move to smaller containers so I can just add them to my lunch bag to take to work.
If you preheated the cooler, dump out the water. Fill 2 more jars with hot tap water, put on lids and bands and set them in the cooler. These jars of water help keep the temperature constant. Set your jars of cultured milk in the cooler and put on the lid. Set the cooler where it won’t be disturbed.
If you are using a probe thermometer, snake the probe under the lid. The temperature needs to stay around 100F and 110F. If the temperature drops, pull out one of the jars of water and re-fill it with more hot water. The yogurt also needs to remain undisturbed, if not, it may not set up properly.
The yogurt jars need to be in the cooler for about 7 hours. I had to change out the water jars 1 time to keep the temperature in the correct range. After 7 hours, pull out a jar and turn it to the side to see if the milk has jelled. Notice the blob of jelled milk in the jar.
Homemade yogurt is a bit thinner than store-bought scaldes yogurt. To make it thicker, I strained it by hanging it in cheesecloth. I strained it for about 30 minutes, then emptied it into a container and stirred it well. Then I put the container into the refrigerator.
I tried the yogurt this evening. After it cooled, it ended up the consistency of Greek yogurt. I mixed some granola cereal into it and it was really good. I certainly will make this again. I just have to remember to save 2 or 3 tablespoons of this batch to get the next batch started.

Unfortunately, fresh fruit isn’t something we have an abundance of on the homestead. We are planting fruit in the spring, but the production isn’t there yet. I used honey from the farm down the street. It is really good.

Anyway, when I do go for a walk, all I ever see these days are yogurt shops. grampian health foods I’m sure they serve some sort of purpose. I guess. These things are everywhere I go. Yogurtland, Yogurtville, Yogurt R Us, Yogurt City … talk about a fad, this is it.
Just today, from the time I left my house to the time I arrived at a favorite restaurant five minutes away, I passed by approximately 233 yogurt shops. And I’m pretty sure more are under construction.
These things have taken over the city. If the number of these things were indicative of what people grampian health foods are eating in Mexico City these days, then people must be existing on a diet consisting of about 97% yogurt.

The second day of the camp, and the first training day began with the thing in the morning to rent bicycles.
