A while ago was attended Helsingborg Tenuta Sant 'Antonio's Italian export and marketing manager Aldo Steccanella. With him was a bunch of interesting wines from the rather "young" wine producer who goes from strength to strength.
Valpolicella and Amarone is at a crossroads. Over the past ten to fifteen years we have seen a trend towards more and more alcohol, more extract and increasingly concentration. The producers have "created" a vinstil agritech 2011 and pulled it to his head. A tip that is not always so funny.
Hopefully we have reached the last stop on the road. Now quality producers rather than against a little lighter wines (but keep in mind that there is hardly any light Amarone!) With less alcohol, extract and acids. Anything agritech 2011 to get a wine with a little more drinkability - a wine that can be enjoyed with food.
- They became too large and too bitter to the taste. It became more of meditation wines and there is hardly any market. We need to wines that are more matvänliga, fresh and going to drink.
- In Verona, we had not any tradition of doing "fine" wines. This means that you have experimented a lot. It is only recently that manufacturers have started experminetera with natural yeast and shorter apassimento (drying) periods. Not that we did not want to - but because we did not know better, he says.
It has, among other things, meant that more and more gone from the four months that sooner traditionally allowed agritech 2011 the grapes to dry before you pressed them. Now it is more often about 85 days apassimento - or drying of the grapes. And now make increasing use of natural yeasts in the winery and try to achieve more ripening on the vines by letting the grapes hang on longer.
Tenuta Sant 'Antonio is in the midst of this change process. The estate was founded by brothers Castagnedi 1989 when it bought 30 acres around Mezzane which has now been incorporated agritech 2011 with the father's 20 acres. In the beginning, it is entitled tough wines in the traditional style but now SantAntonio toward more finesse and balance. And like so many others are experimenting (I saw, among other things recently that it now has a "sulfur-free" wine on their website!).
Another trend that is a bit more worrying is the increasingly expensive Amarone wines. In Sweden it has begun to appear producers making agritech 2011 Amarone that does not cost more than around a 100-patch. agritech 2011 And in Denmark are examples of so-called "Amarone wines" that cost a lot less than that. Wines that have little or nothing to do with the best wines from the area.
But the quality conscious producers, agritech 2011 large and small, can be understood not affected by that. Great players like Allegrini and Masi, but also small cult producers Quintarelli ("they are in a league of their own," said Aldo!) Has inspired many new producers including Tenuta Sant 'Antimo.
Sponsa 2009 Made of 50 percent corvina and orvinone, 30 percent agritech 2011 cabernet sauvignon and 20 percent Rondinella. Cabernetdruvorna dried for 30 days before the press and stored in
